Connections.

I’m a Fit Girl, are you?  Fit Girls is a running program that is all about being fit and healthy.  It is a fitness program for girls in 4th, 5th and 6th grade that uniquely combines training for a 5k race with reading and community outreach.  To be a healthy fit girl, means feeling strong in your body, mind, and spirit. This program helps young girls feel confident and strong. I joined Fit Girls because I wanted to have fun and be active at the same time.

I was not a runner before I started the Fit Girls program.  I believe that our two seasons have made a difference in my life. I am proud of myself and my accomplishments. We run every Tuesday and Thursday several miles. Running with my friends has made me want to run on other days of the week as well. Not only am I staying in shape for myself, but I am learning how to be a stronger runner and run further distances.

A daily Fit Girls schedule begins with reading a personal book. We then have discussions around the characters within our books. We watch them grow and develop throughout each chapter. We then go outside to run on a trail or the track. There are drills to build our skills centered around pacing, speed, and strength. All of the coaches teach you how to pace yourself.  Now when I run,  I feel stronger both mentally and physically.

I hope everyone who reads this considers the Fit Girl Program.  You can join a Fit Girl Group in your school. To find more about Fit Girls search up their website.  I will always be a Fit Girl!!!
